Job Description

Duties

A Field Assistant (Conservation and Country Parks) is mainly deployed on investigation, supervisory, technical work, visitor reception and law enforcement duties connected with countryside conservation, which may include forestry, country parks or wildlife management work.

(Note: May be required to work in any part of Hong Kong; live in departmental quarters/operation centres; work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends; drive a departmental vehicle; undertake fire protection duties, which normally include shift and ‘stand-by’ duties, night work and ‘on-call’ overnight duties at Government premises; and wear uniform.)

Entry Requirements

Candidates should have –
(a)(i) Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or (ii) Level 2 (Note 3) / Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent;
(b) at least two years’ post-qualification experience in nature conservation field work or a disciplined service of the Government;
(c) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; and
(d) a pass result in Basic Law and National Security Law Test (Note 4).

Terms of Appointment

A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

For candidates holding qualifications obtained from academic institutions outside Hong Kong, copies of diplomas/certificates, transcripts of studies and official documents issued by the relevant academic institutions stating the mode of delivery of the study programmes should be submitted to the designated e-mail address (personnel_registry@afcd.gov.hk) on or before 28 August 2026 with “Application for the post of Field Assistant (Conservation and Country Parks)” stated in the email subject. The online application number should also be quoted in the e-mail and every page of the supporting documents.

Candidates who hold academic qualifications awarded by local institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority are not required to submit photocopies of the official transcripts and certificates at this stage of application.

(i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required entry qualifications. They should submit copies of their official transcripts and certificates to the designated e-mail address (personnel_registry@afcd.gov.hk) on or before 28 August 2026.
