Responsibilities

• Perform system administration tasks for various Linux distributions
• Oversee daily operations of High-Performance Computing (HPC) computing facilities, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
• Manage user accounts and access to HPC resources running on Linux systems
• Manage and setup hardware and software for the HPC system
• Conduct regular health checks on all systems to proactively identify, resolve, or escalate issues
• Provide support to faculty members, students and other users of the HPC systems
• Assist users with job submission, scheduling and optimisation
• Work shifts and irregular hours as required
• Perform any other duties as requested by supervisors

Requirements

• A recognized bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline
• At least 3 years of relevant work experience
• Proven experience in managing sizable Linux operating environments
• Proficiency with Linux/Unix operating systems, file systems and shell commands
• Proficiency with the installation of various Linux distributions, such as RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu and Debian, from scratch
• Familiar with tools for installing and managing research software such as conda and docker/singularity
• Preferably with knowledge of HPC job schedulers such as Slurm
• Willing to learn HPC skills and technologies
• Good problem-solving skills
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective user support
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Candidates with less/more experience will be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.

Salary and Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
