Job Description

Duties

An Amenities Assistant III is mainly deployed on supervising minor staff (Note 5) in recreational and amenities services including –
(a) arboriculture, plant production, botanical, zoological, aviary maintenance and landscape construction;
(b) maintenance of sports centres, parks, playgrounds, roadside amenity areas, stadia, sports grounds, beaches and swimming pools;
(c) life-saving and first aid services; and
(d) assisting in recreation and sports programme (Note 6).

[Note 5: Include the monitoring of the performance of contractors and their staff that provide recreational and amenities services.
Note 6: Apart from supervising minor staff, an Amenities Assistant III may be required to assist in recreation and sports programming duties.]

[Notes: Successful candidates should note the following –
(i) they are required to work 45 hours net per week (excluding meal breaks);
(ii) they are subject to posting and transfer, and may be required to work in remote areas (including outlying islands) at the discretion of the Head of Grade/ Department;
(iii) they may be required to perform shift duties and work irregular hours (including on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays). Actual working hours will be arranged by supervisors;
(iv) they may be required to drive motor scooters/ cycles/ cars on duty; and
(v) they may be required to wear uniform.]

Entry Requirements

Candidates should meet the following entry requirements –
(a)(i) have Level 2 or equivalent (Note 1) or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) (Note 2), or equivalent; or
(ii) have Level 2 (Note 3)/ Grade E or above in five subjects in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (Note 2), or equivalent;
(b) have two years’ post-qualification working experience;
(c) have met the language proficiency requirements of Level 2 (Note 3) or above in Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSEE or HKCEE, or equivalent; and
(d) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST) (Note 4).

Terms of Appointment

A new recruit will normally be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/ she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.

For qualifications awarded by local institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority, copies of the relevant transcripts/ diplomas/ certificates or other qualification documents are <u><b>not required</b></u> to be submitted at this stage of application. As for qualifications obtained from institutions outside Hong Kong, copies of the relevant transcripts/ diplomas/ certificates or other qualification documents should be submitted by email to lsaet3a@lcsd.gov.hk within one week after the application deadline (i.e. on or before 27 August 2026). The online application number should be quoted in the subject of the email and on every page of the copies of the relevant documents.

Candidates who are invited for selection interview will be required to produce the original copies of the official transcripts/ diplomas/ certificates or other qualification documents in support of the academic qualifications and supporting documents for working experience for verification and photocopies for record purposes. The applications will not be considered if any candidates fail to produce the original copies of the required documents for verification. All qualifications/ working experience of the candidates should be obtained on or before the close of application. Qualifications/ working experience obtained after the close of application will not be considered.

(i) Applicants working in the Leisure and Cultural Services Department should state clearly in the applications their present rank and posting; and
(ii) Applicants should state clearly in their applications full record of academic attainments and employment as shortlisting criteria may be applied for selecting qualified candidates to attend the selection interview.]

Candidates who are selected for selection interview will normally receive an invitation (by email or by post) in about 12 to 16 weeks from the closing date for applications. This period may be longer in exceptional circumstances or when a large number of applications are received. Those who are not invited for selection interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful.

(a) Candidates must be permanent residents of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of appointment unless specified otherwise.

(h) It is Government policy to place people with a disability in appropriate jobs wherever possible. If a disabled candidate meets the entry requirements, he/ she will be invited to attend the selection tests/ interviews without being subject to further shortlisting. Applicants who have declared disabilities found suitable for appointment may be given an appropriate degree of preference over other applicants whose suitability for appointment is considered comparable to that of the former. (i) Holders of academic qualifications other than those obtained from Hong Kong institutions/ Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority may also apply but their qualifications will be subject to assessments on equivalence with the required local entry qualifications.
